Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD)<\/strong> is an inherited X-linked<\/strong> neuromuscular disorder caused by mutations in the DMD<\/strong> gene, resulting in the absence or deficiency of dystrophin<\/strong>, a protein essential for normal muscle function.<\/p>

Genetic testing plays a critical role in identifying the underlying mutation responsible for DMD and in helping to reduce the risk of transmission to future generations through informed reproductive planning.<\/p>

Approximately 70%<\/strong> of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) cases are caused by large deletions<\/strong> in the DMD<\/strong> gene, while approximately 15%<\/strong> result from duplications<\/strong>. At our center, MLPA<\/strong> analysis is performed to accurately and simultaneously detect these disease-causing genomic alterations.<\/p>
