While conventional PGT methods focus on detecting chromosomal abnormalities (PGT-A<\/a><\/strong>) or single-gene disorders (PGT-M<\/a><\/strong>) in embryos, PGT-P<\/strong> extends beyond these approaches by assessing genetic susceptibility to multifactorial (complex) diseases that may develop throughout an individual’s lifetime using Polygenic Risk Scores (PRS)<\/strong>.<\/p>

Conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, hypertension, obesity<\/strong>, and certain types of cancer<\/strong> are not caused by a single gene. Instead, they result from the combined effects of hundreds or even thousands of genetic variants together with environmental factors. PGT-P<\/strong> evaluates an embryo’s genetic predisposition to these conditions and generates a comprehensive genetic risk profile based on PRS<\/strong>.<\/p>

This approach supports the selection of the embryo with the lowest predicted genetic risk<\/strong> for chronic and complex diseases, helping provide the best possible start to life.<\/p>
